Rich formerly worked for America’s feeding programs as the Western Region WIC director and as an adjudicant of appeals by SNAP retailers. He also previously worked at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Rich’s writing, including crosswords he constructed, has appeared in numerous publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, Los Angeles Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Miami Herald, The Atlantic, the Denver Post, and the Anchorage Daily News. 

Rich also enjoys volleyball, complex board games, running, and culinary experimentation. Rich lives in Berkeley with his wife, cats Sammie and Jasper, and Hagrid the dog.
